Qualicum Beach Priorities

I respect Qualicum Beach’s rich history and quality of life. From the historical Eagle Crest Lodge to Memorial golf course and General Money’s first Hotel Qualicum Beach has been the jewel of Oceanside. Our beautiful beaches, parks, and ocean views have attracted many thousands of visitors including the Queen, John Wayne, other celebrities, and families from across the country and around the world.

We are a vibrant community and it is important to continue to celebrate our geography and the great range of events, artists, entertainment that draw the tourists that drive our local economy. We need to keep and continue to make Qualicum cool enough to attract tourists without losing the small town comforts that make it such a great community to grow up in or retire in.

Housing for workers, families, and seniors is a priority for me and the town. Refreshing the Village core, with the East Village concept and the old bus garage project will contribute to that famous Qualicum cool. A new Clubhouse, brewery and a mix of Hotel/Lodge, seasonal and residential housing at Pheasant Glen will help address our need for tourism accommodation and housing.

Working Collaboratively

I value effective communication and am open to respectful debate, with a goal of bringing forth collaborative solutions.

Affordable Housing

I believe families and seniors alike will benefit from the addition of long overdue multigenerational affordable housing.

Environmental Preservation

I will stand for the conservation and enhancement of our community’s green spaces, tree canopy, air quality, and watershed. I also believe we all benefit from opportunities to experience our shared ecosystems through an integrated trail network.

Local Economic Opportunity

I believe that by building on the unique character of Qualicum Beach, we can create new opportunities for people to live, work, play, and stay without needing to move away.

Community Planning

I will refer to the Official Community Plan as a guide for the future of Qualicum Beach, while remaining responsive to evolving needs and opportunities.
